SkinnySkulls Skinny Skulls Poole The Skulls are purveyors of quirky guitar-based alternative rock music. A full length recording fantasy became reality with the long anticipated debut album 'Songs Lost At Sea' being produced by the band with Steve Smith at Room With A View studios. Launching their 1st volume on digital media channels including Spotify in September 2017 coincides with the latest phase of recording for the next album, with another preview track being shared here on the band's web site, The Skinny Skulls manifested as an idea at Halloween in 2002, after lifelong friends Edward Morgan and Stuart Cresswell formed a garage band in 2000. An EP of studio recordings was produced in 2003, scarily featuring Elliott Andrews from the Kate Nash band on drums. The group toured England under the guise of Cherry Atrium in 2003/4, playing rock shows with many top live acts including Motion City Soundtrack and Biffy Clyro plus a chance appearance on the Kerrang! Club Tour supporting SikTh. These integral events would feature Darren Henstridge on drums. Friend of the group Henry Dalton began co-writing music with Stuart in 2004. Henry's organ playing brought vaudeville to the Atrium's voodoo. The resulting trademark 'post-medieval-gothic-oriental-nautical-espionage-core' sound is more of a confession than a genre. The band's members are geeks who fell in love with rock 'n' roll! Their story began in earnest when Australian born Grant Dirckze began drumming with the group in 2005. With a dozen years touring experience playing in Sydney seminal punk band Blitz Babiez, including gigs supporting The Offspring and Blink 182, Grant’s expertise has honed the band's direction and brought unprecedented drive to the music. Antony Bowker (RIP) completed the original Skinny Skulls line-up on bass guitar. Polish saxophonist Cyprian Kuczera began appearing with the group in 2009. Edward Morgan’s spirit has haunted The Skinny Skulls for years, but his vacant candidacy was finally filled by Alexander Peake in 2011. Peakey completed a cast of players that would record the bands debut album 'Songs Lost At Sea'. Peakey along with Darren 'Henna' Henstridge performed incognito as ‘Cloud City Rockers’ with other members of the Skulls. He has re-joined the band in his original role following Grant’s exodus. Finesse and power in equal measure, Henna delivers the finishing blow on courtly ballads of love at every live ceremony, bringing the force of a meteor storm. Grant returned to British soil in October 2013. The Skulls founders reunited for a trio of studio recordings. This was the last time the original cast would be engineered at the hands of Steve Smith. Surviving members grieved the tragic passing of Antony before Grant rallied the crew in January 2017 to construct foundations for a daring 2nd volume. Fighting to overcome their loss transforms the Skulls.
